Puck 'N Hockey

Another epic hockey weekend is upon us.  Jon Walker (@jonnywalker36) and I will compete in the 2011 Old Fat Bald Guys Hockey Tournament starting tomorrow night.  This year the OFBG tourney will run July 15th through July 17th and includes a silent auction on Saturday to benefit Special Olympics Maryland.  As always, the tournament is being held at Skate Frederick.

The current silent auction items are:

• A Taylor Made Pure Lite 2.0 stand bag with the NHLOA logo embroidered on the sides.
• Two (2) tickets to see the Caps take on the Phoenix Coyotes on Monday November 21, 2011 at 7PM at the Verizon Center. The tickets are in section 220, row G.
• Two (2) 2011 AHL All-Star Classic Reebok goalie sticks. One stick is autographed by the entire roster of the 2011 AHL Eastern All-Star team; the other stick is autographed by the entire roster of the 2011 AHL Western All-Star team.
• Two (2) tickets to see the Caps take on the all new Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday November 23, 2011 at 7PM at the Verizon Center. The tickets are in section 220, row G.
• A 2011 ECHL All-Star Classic gift package. The package includes two ECHL t-shirts, a CCM duffel bag with the 2011 ECHL All-Star Classic logo, sock hat, puck, souvenir program autographed by ECHL All-Star Classic players, and more!
• Two (2) tickets to see the Caps take on the New York Rangers on Friday November 25, 2011 at 4PM at the Verizon Center. The tickets are in section 220, row G.
• A VIP “Behind the Scenes” tour of the WBAL and 98 Rock studios in Baltimore.
• A Jarome Iginla autographed rookie card.
• An NHL linesman sweater autographed by the 2011-2012 NHL Officiating Staff.

So, try to make some time during the busy Caps Fan Fest Saturday to head up to the OFBG tournament to bid on these items.  We’ll update the list as more items are announced.

Oh yeah, the Fan Fest.  I will be tagging along with a Caps season ticket holder who has the 8:00am equipment sale time slot and a tourney teammate, to try to pickup a new twig and some socks.  No scrimmage coverage like last year since we have to be back for an 11:30am game.  I think we’ll try to document our early morning trip, the sale, and some of the tournament via smartphone photos and video.
