This being my premier post on Puck ‘N Hockey, a short introduction of myself and the focal point of my contributions to the blog are in order.
I’ll be honest and say, that I don’t really come with much in the way of professional credentials. I’m an amateur in the very best sense. My writing is more than a bit unrefined to the scholarly and my hockey experience doesn’t rise above beer league and a smattering of college club level.
That said, I do have one Ace up my sleeve, and if you’re reading this, one card you all collectively share as well, and that is- I/we love hockey. We all have opinions on it, our loves and hates about the current regime in charge of the NHL, we have our favorite teams and players (shout out to the Caps fans!) and of course, those we despise (we’re all looking at you, Avery). But those things are just a scant few of the tiny cells in the genetic make-up of hockey.
So, as for me personally? Well, I’ll go ahead and get this out of the way, and let the boos rain down- I’m not a Caps fan. That’s not to say I’m a Caps hater either. My team doesn’t exist anymore- RIP Whalers! Carolina doesn’t count. I cannot say I cling to one team, but if I had to, because of their great goaltending history, it would be the Rangers. Settle down, viper pit, I’m not here to tear down your infrastructure from the inside like some double agent!
I mentioned great goaltending history- I’m a fan of that. I follow goalies more so than any one team. I always have. The fondness of that position (in the figurative and literal) come from the fact, that I am a goaltender and I am interested in every aspect pertaining to it. Thus, we have the focus of my little contributions to Puck ‘N Hockey- goaltending. From the latest news and pertinent information of the current NHL stables, to some of the unsung heroes in the ranks below and beyond. Some bits on the technicalities of the actual position, to waxing nostalgic on net minding of the past. If it’s goaltending, I’m all about it.
Now I have to be sure to mention something before I depart and that is: I am by no means an expert. Quite honestly, a lot of the technical stuff I will share, certainly isn’t my own knowledge. It’s just absorbed by me along the way and parroted back to you. Hopefully, in a manner that you may find enjoyable to read and learn from. You might have found by reading this entry, that I’m an open book when it comes to my hockey life, and I love a good discussion when it comes to my favorite pastime passion. I could be wrong or right but in the end, both parties could know something that they didn’t think about before. In that, everyone wins.
Our love of the sport brings us to common ground and that’s getting off to a pretty good start I’d say. One sport, with a million different looks. The view from the crease is just one of those. See you in two.
