The Capitals have acquired D.J. King from the St. Louis Blues for Stephan Della Rovere.  Basically, the Caps got a sandpaper wrapped, brick for a scrappy, junkyard dog.  Not a bad deal for either organization.

Now, most folks who like the acquisition of a prototypical enforcer, point to King’s fight with the Minnesota Wild’s Derek Boogaard last season as an example of what King brings to the table.  I would like to point out King’s bout with the Predators’ Wade Belak.  Just prior to the fight, you will notice King go after Belak behind the net.

This is the type of gritty, not always pretty and clean play, that I longed for from Bruce Boudreau’s Caps last season.  Sometimes, you have to send a guy like D.J. King to send a message.
