Hawks Rule

If you bear with me for a moment, I will explain why the Flyers have no chance against the Chicago Blackhawks in this year’s Stanley Cup Final.

In the 1990s, there was a great TV show called Due South.  It was about Constable Benton Fraser, a Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer who traveled to Chicago on the trail of his father’s killer and ends up a “liaison officer” working out of the Canadian consulate.  Fraser is partnered with a Chicago police detective and hilarity ensues.  If you get a chance to check out the DVD release of the 4 seasons of Due South, take it.  If nothing else, it’s worth a look for the over the top American and Canadian stereotype humor which we all enjoy as hockey fans.

In one the last few episodes of the short lived series, Fraser and his Chicago native partner Ray, end up having to travel to Toronto while investigating a case.  Upon arriving in Toronto, Ray is confronted by someone attempting to scalp Maple Leafs tickets.

Obviously, the Leafs are far from a post season berth.  So, I’m going to exercise a bit of creative license.

[At intersection, a man is hawking hockey tickets]
Man: Hey, you need Leafs Flyers tickets?
Ray: Leafs Flyers suck.
Man: Leafs Flyers rule.
Ray: Hawks rule.
Man: Hawks suck.
Ray: You suck.
Fraser: You are bilingual, Ray.

There you have it folks.  Hawks rule.
